Chota Chardham is a set of four pilgrimage sites in India. It is believed visiting these sites helps achieve Moksha. Chota Chardham consists of KedarnathBadrinathYamunotri, and Gangotri. The temples of Chota Char Dham are located in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. Yamunotri and Gangotri are located in Uttarkashi district, Kedarnath is in Rudraprayag district and Badrinath is in the Chamoli district. Each of these four pilgrimage sites is devoted to a specific God. Among four Scared sites Kedarnath is dedicated to Lord Shiva and it is also a part of the Panch Kedar. It is one of the famous Jyotirlinga and located near the beginning of the holy river Mandakini. Badrinath is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is situated on the bank of the River Alaknanda. On the other hand, Yamunotri and Gangotri are dedicated to Goddess Yamuna and Ganga rivers respectively. In Hindu religion, the Chardham Yatra has great significance, and it is considered that every Hindu should do Chardham yatra at least once in a lifetime.

It is suggested to proceed with the Char Dham Yatra in the clockwise direction, therefore, the holy journey commences from Yamunotri. Thereafter, passing through Gangotri and Kedarnath, respectively, and then at last Badrinath. Char Dham Yatra commences from the month of April or May and remains open for just half a year. However, the exact dates are confirmed before the holy day of Akshaya Tritiya by the temple committee, Kedar-Badri Mandir Samiti. Akshaya Tritiya is a highly sacred and prosperous day in the Hindu Calendar and is also esteemed as Akha Teej which is said to bring the good fortune.
