Mysore is referred as the "Cultural Capital of Karnataka".  Some of the popular festivals that take place in the Mysore city are Dasara festival, Vairamudi festival, Ugadi festival, and Dusshera. Mysore is well known for the festivities that take place during the period of Dasara, the state festival of Karnataka. Dasara fevestival was first introduced by King Raja Wodeyar I in 1610 is celebrated over a ten-day period.On the tenth day of the festival Dasara, called Vijayadashami, the traditional Dasara procession is held on the streets of Mysore which usually falls in the month of September or October, the Idol of the Goddess Chamundeshwari is placed on a golden mantapa on the back of a decorated elephant and taken on a procession, accompanied by tabla, dance groups, music bands, decorated elephants, horses and camels. Mysore is called the "City of Palaces" because of several ornate examples in the city. Among the most notable are Amba Vilas, popularly known as Mysore Palace; Jaganmohana Palace, which also serves as an art gallery; Rajendra Vilas, also known as the summer palace; Lalitha Mahal, which has been converted into a hotel; and Jayalakshmi Vilas. The main palace of Mysore was burned down in 1897, and the present-day structure was built on the same site.

 1. Mysore Palace  
Mysore Palace also called as Amba Villas Palace or the Mysore Maharaja Palace is one of the most famous tourist attractions spot in India, after the Taj Mahal, with more than 6 million annual visitors visit there. It is the official residence of the Wadiyar dynasty and the seat of the Kingdom of Mysore. The palace is in the centre of Mysore, and faces the Chamundi Hills eastward. The palace was buit in 1897 using wood which was damaged due to fire.  2. Jaganmohan Palace 
Jaganmohan Palace in Mysore is considered to be one of the most beautiful palace in the Mysore city. The palace was used as a temporary accommodation for the royal family after their home, the present Mysore Palace – which was then known as the Ambavilas Palace – was destroyed in a fire. The Jaganmohan Palace has now been converted into an art gallery and a function hall. The Jaganmohan Palace is one of the most popular tourist destinations and places to see in Mysore. The walls of the interiors are painted with murals. These mural paintings which follow the traditional style of the Mysore school of painting depict the Dasara scene and the canvas depicting the sequence of the Jumboo Savari stretches across three walls.This mural is the earliest known picture of the Mysore Dasara and has been painted using vegetable dyes. A family tree of the Wodeyars tracing the lineage of the royal family is also painted on a wall.Two wooden displaying Dashavatara, the ten incarnations of the Hindu God, Vishnu is also present in the palace.
 
 3. Chamundeshwari Temple 
Chamundeshwari Temple is a Hindu Temple located on the top of Chamundi Hills. This temple is named after the Goddess Durga other name is Chamundeshwari.This temple is considered as a Shakti Peetha and one among the 18 Maha Shakti Peethas. It is also known as Krouncha Pitham as the region was known in Puranic times as Krouncha Puri. It is said that the hair of Sati Devi fell here. It is located 13km from the from the city Mysore. The statue of Nandi in this temple is over 15 feet high, and 24 feet long and around its neck are exquisite bells. Lalitha Mahal is the second largest palace in Mysore is built in 1921.It is located at the foot of Chamundi Hills.
