How to reach Chitwan?

Chitwan National Park

Chitwan Nation Park is located in the subtropical Inner Terai lowlands of south-central Nepal in the district of Nawalpur, Parsa, Chitwan, and Makwanpur. It was established in 1973 and declared as a World Heritage Site in 1984. It is the first national park in Nepal. Narayani River is the major river flowing through this region. It originates from the Himalayas and flows into the Bay of Bengal. It is the third-largest river of the country and is also known as Gandaki. Chitwan National Park was formerly called the Royal Chitwan National Park. There are several rare and endangered species in Chitwan National Park which include Bengal tiger, gharial, rhino, leopards, mugger crocodile, Indian rock python and several species of deer.

Bishazari Tal Lake

Bishazari Tal Lake is located close to Chitwan National Park, about 5 km south of Bharatpur. The lake serves as an important bird watching center and is attractive for bird lovers. It also harbors crocodiles. The Nepali words 'bis' means twenty, 'haj?r' thousand and 'tal means lake means '20,000 lakes'. The forested wetland provides habitat as a waterhole and wildlife corridor for wildlife species including Bengal tiger, sloth bear, smooth-coated otter, one-horned rhinoceros, white-rumped vulture, Pallas's fish-eagle, lesser adjutant stork, ferruginous duck, and mugger crocodile.
