1. Golden Temple
The Golden Temple, also known as Darbar Sahib or Sri Harmandir Sahib, is a Gurdwara located in the city of Amritsar, Punjab, India. It is the holiest Gurdwara and the most important pilgrimage site of Sikhism. The temple is built around a man-made pool (sarovar) that was completed by Guru Ram Das in 1577. Guru Arjan, the fifth Guru of Sikhism, requested Sai Mian Mir, a Muslim Pir of Lahore, to lay its foundation stone in 1589. The Golden Temple is a mesmerising blend of Hindu and Islamic architectural styles and appears to be floating at the end of a long causeway. It has an elegant marble lower level embellished with animal and flower motifs in pietra dura work, topped by a 750 kg gold gilded dome. One of the most important festivals celebrated at the Golden Temple is Vaisakhi in the second week of April (mostly the 13th April). This festival is celebrated to commemorate the founding of the Khalsa.
2. Jallianwala Bagh
Jallianwala Bagh is a public garden in Amritsar and is one of the most important historical places in India. Located in the holy city of Amritsar, Jallianwala Bagh is just a walking distance from the sacred Harmandir Sahib or Golden Temple. April 13, 1919, marks a bloody day in the history of Indian independence, when hundreds of innocent Indians participating in a meeting at the Bagh were killed by British troops on the order of General Dyer in Jallianwala Bagh massacre, also known as the Amritsar massacre. The memorial is managed by the Jallianwala Bagh National Memorial Trust, which was established as per the "Jallianwala Bagh National Memorial Act". Act No. 25 of 1 May 1951. Retrieved 10 August 2016.
3. Wagah Border
Wagah Border marks the boundaries between Indian and Pakistani borders. People from all over the country visit this place to witness the Beating Retreat Ceremony that is held every day before sunset. This ceremony includes the closing of the international gates and lowering the flags of both countries. The Border Security Force (BSF) jawans encourage women and children to hold the national flag, sprint towards the gates, and dance to Bollywood tracks in celebration. The border is located 24 kilometres (15 mi) from Lahore and 32 kilometres (20 mi) from Amritsar. It is also 3 kilometres from the bordering village of Attari. The flag ceremony has been conducted by the Indian Border Security Force and Pakistan Rangers since 1959. People from both sides visit the Wagah border. On both sides of the border, there is a massive gate which is inscribed as "Swarn Jayanti Dwar". The Beating Retreat Ceremony starts at 4:15 PM in winter and 5:15 PM in summer. It lasts for about 45 minutes.
Gobindgarh Fort is a historic fort located in the center of the city of Amritsar. Popularly known as the Bhangian da Killa (fort of the Bhangis). The fort had 25 canons mounted on its ramparts and it remained with the Bhangirulers till 1805. Gobindgarh Fort was built by the army of Gujjar Singh Bhangi of Sikh Misls, and later reconstructed by Maharaja Ranjit Singh between 1805 and 1809. The Fort was earlier occupied by the army but is now open to the public from 10 February 2017. The Darbar Hall, Hawa Mahal and the Phansi Ghar were then added to the fort during British rule.
